Among the Hidden

The book Among The Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix is about a young  boy named Luke who never had a birthday, friends, went to sleep overs, or even had the chance to go to school. Luke couldn't even go outside for a little bit due to the fact that he might get discovered.  He was always hidden in the dark shadows, only with one hole in the attic that he had a hard time seeing out of .That hole he had at least gave him the chance to see outside, but  it also allowed him to see other people having fun and getting what he could never have.  Luke's point of view shows how the government is wrong and corrupted for what they have done and makes the reader feel hatred toward the government and that Luke is innocent.

One way the reader is influenced by Luke's opinions  is because he couldn't have fun or be seen in public for fear of the Population  Police. The Population Police had rules which stated a minimum of only two children the third would have to be aborted. But other children were hidden not only Luke. Others such as Jen were hidden  who will risk her life for freedom which Luke goes along not caring for his punishment because he is thinking anything is better than a day after day inside house arrest. The population police have wrong corrupted laws which shall eventually end when Jen and Luke try to do the impossible.

The reader feels angry towards the Government because they were listening to Luke's point of view of the story.  From this perspective, it is easy for the reader to think these Government guys are evil people out to get and kill the third child for the enjoyment of watching them suffer.

If the book was put in the Governments  view the reader would feel different ,how is because the Population Police are normal workers , just following the Government rules .The Population Police worked for the Government, they were just doing there jobs, but they had no control over the Government. The Government had a town a nice beautiful town which by the way you had the freedom to move their. Also the Government was nice enough to pay for everything, and let you live at a nice peaceful town ,and all you had to do was just follow the rules, but sence the people didn't follow the rules the Government has to get punished by having all the third children plot against them.

  1. I would give my self a 10 on the point of view Essay. I would give myself this because I have a good short title that sums my essay up, correct grammar ,and sentences that make sense. I have 4 paragraphs, and periods where needed.I also compared how the the reader would interpret each events, and points of view.I also have specific events EXT.
